And the clock turns
And the world burns
And all the embers grow to ferns
And all the hearts of lovers yearn
To turn another day
And the rays of the sun
Will light the scape
With meanings and dreamings
And weavings of fate
And states will fall
As will it all
And every word unknown will call
The longing ears
Of distant years
Who knew that life is what it steers
Until they saw with nearer eyes
That even so-called wisdom dies
And so, and on, and forward too
Till all that’s left to make it through
Is but the wish first uttered when
The start of all the starts began
Oh human child
Oh adult might
Oh senior styled
Of inner light
Oh spinning lives on rock in space
With every manner peering face
Oh steering grace, if you should be
Help us least to grow and see
That even in these acid days
Of wearing all away, away
Even as the pillars fall
And stillness leaks from out it all
Even as the giants call
The crush of all they grew
Help us hear the hushing tones
Gushing when we’re all alone
Help us find the beauty grown
In everything still new
