I Came to a Place

I came to a place on a hill with a cave
Overlooking a lake and a forest

I came to a place, as if by the will
Of some hidden bidding or chorus

I came to a place where the mountains are Giants
And a meadowland carpets the floor
I came in the face of my inner defiance
In hoping that somehow there’s more

I came to a place
A mystical place
Where the cooing goose sail
And the white-tail chase
And the faces of cliffs stare in momentous ways
That echo the days of the past

Where the mist in the morning
Is kisses in warning
That sunshine is breaking at last

I came to a place where the cool in the air
Livens the lungs, and the rains of despair
Are caught by the tongue
And taste just as sweet as the river

I came to a place where a choir is sung
By the birds and the winds that is hung in the air
Like a time I was young and I flung out my care
To the world in a ravishing quiver

I came to a place where the sky paints a sense
Of a world with a flowing emotion
And then when it’s darkened the starlight is harkened
With the shock of a diamond strung ocean
And this lotion of humilty just pours out the night
And my tears seem to wish fractal webs on my sight
And I almost can’t take all the might I’ve been missing
As I fight ‘gainst myself for the life I’ve been wishing
And break down inside, but the world keeps on dishing
And swishing with spirits I’m always dismissing
Just bursting with flourishing gall!

Then in rolls the mist with her peppercorn kiss
Just when I’m losing it all

And little by little a sky comes awake
And little by little I let go my shaking
As the sun wakes the mountains, the birds and the lake
I see that I’m also awaking

I came to a place, as if by a grace
That knew I had worry and doubt

I came to a place…I came to a place
And somebody different came out
